Borders College has recently launched a new website featuring a virtual tour of the key areas around our Campus. Working with ProPhoto Company, a Scottish Borders Photography Business, we wanted to give our visitors the chance to see the great facilities we have in our Campus and ProPhoto’s Virtual Tour product seemed like the obvious choice.

In discussion with ProPhoto they completed a trial of our Fujitsu Room to show us what they could offer and they surprised us by presenting the trial tour to us on a Virtual Reality headset which just blew us away! We then knew this was just what we were looking for and ProPhoto set to work to create our Virtual Tour.

In addition to the tour of our Galashiels Campus, ProPhoto has also completed tours of our Newtown St Boswells Campus, Brickwork Workshop in Tweedbank and more recently a tour of Ian Stark Equestrian Centre that is used by the College for our Equestrian courses.

The final Virtual Tour has now been embedded into our new website allowing our visitors to take a look around. When looking for a course the user can also take a tour of the relevant department to see the facilities that they have on offer.

Our tour has Virtual Reality capabilities built in as standard and this means that users with a VR headset can take a fully immersive tour of our facilities. We have now invested in a number of headsets and take our tour out to career days at the region’s High Schools allowing our future students to see our facilities, helping them to choose Borders College for the next step in their education, whilst also making the discussion more interactive and fun.

Cameron Reith Marketing Manager at Borders College said – “We are delighted with the tour that ProPhoto has completed for us. We have taken the tour out to a number of school events and the students just love the opportunity to try on the VR headset and see our facilities.”

Jason Mihulka from ProPhoto Company added – “It was a pleasure to work with Borders College to help them showcase their superb Campus. Virtual Reality is an emerging medium with many companies looking for something new to promote their business and brand and we were delighted to be able to offer this technology to Borders College to help them offer a new experience to their users. We have produced a large number of virtual tours for Businesses and Estate Agents and we only see this growing as this technology becomes increasingly popular.”
